For seasoned professionals who bid adieu to campus life long ago or those who never ventured into university halls, the quest for materials and literature necessary for assignments can feel like an insurmountable challenge. Fear not! We've curated a list of resources to guide you on your journey.
When contemplating the repository of the world's most extensive physical records, what immediately springs to mind? The unequivocal answer is the library!
However, for working professionals, dedicating considerable time to travel to an unfamiliar library with uncertain resources is impractical. Hence, we present three key sources: academic databases, online libraries, and data websites.
Academic Databases
These databases feature robust search functionalities, enabling users to retrieve academic literature using keywords, authors, titles, and various parameters, primarily serving academic and research purposes.
1. Scopus
Providing access to global academic journals, conference papers, and patents, Scopus allows users to search for literature using features like "subject area, title, author, and document code." A current subject area search for "business" yields over 2,000 documents for user reference.
2. Web of Science
As an academic database, Web of Science supports searches using keywords, titles, authors, DOIs, and more. As a comprehensive database, it encompasses academic and journal articles related to business, management, and economics. Users must register an account to utilize Web of Science.
Online Libraries
These libraries house a variety of resources, including academic literature, books, and reference tools.
1. Google Scholar
Strictly an academic search engine, Google Scholar requires users to input keywords to find relevant books and academic literature. Covering global academic literature, Google Scholar is freely accessible.
2. Science Direct
Authored by professional scholars and researchers, materials on Science Direct ensure high quality. While it predominantly contains content related to natural sciences, engineering, and medicine, it also offers substantial and quality resources in business, management, and economics.
Data Websites
When composing an article or thesis, data is indispensable. Without it, the work is akin to baseless speculation.
1. Department of Statistics Malaysia
If comprehensive data on Malaysia is what you seek, this website is your go-to destination! The Economic Census 2023 Portal allows users to explore economic and financial data, among other sub-websites offering various data browsing options.
2. WorldBank Data
For information on GDP, population, ESG, and other data related to different countries, WorldBank Data is the place to be. Most data on this website is freely accessible, along with visualization tools.
3. World Trade Organization
Providing a wealth of trade and economic data, including international trade statistics, tariff databases, trade policy reviews, and technical trade statistics, the World Trade Organization's data section is accessible by clicking on "Documents, data, and resources."
