Diverse MBA Offerings: Which One to Choose?

As of now, besides the traditional MBA, there are PMBA (Professional Master of Business Administration), EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration), IMBA (International Master of Business Administration), FMBA (Financial Master of Business Administration), and many more.

The multitude of MBA programs can undoubtedly leave anyone feeling overwhelmed, unsure of the best fit. However, listing all the differences among these options would be text overload. Therefore, this article will focus on highlighting the distinctions between traditional MBA and PMBA!

In summary, here's a quick conclusion:

1. If you are a recent undergraduate, it's advisable to opt for the traditional MBA.

2. If you have a few years of work experience, consider the PMBA route.

A Table For MBA and PMBA

From the table above, it's evident that if you are a working professional, PMBA might be the better choice over the traditional MBA. This recommendation is not only because the PMBA curriculum aligns with workplace demands but also because many working professionals find it challenging to dedicate time to traditional MBA studies.

Having grasped the differences between MBA and PMBA, some may raise a question: given the shorter duration, does PMBA confer a Master's degree? The answer is yes, PMBA does bestow a Master's degree.

At this point, skepticism might arise: with a Master's degree, does PMBA also entail Master's level education?

To address this query, it's crucial to understand the distinction between "education level" and "degree" within China's education system. In China, "education level" and "degree" are different. Graduates in China receive a transcript, a Diploma (or called Graduation certificate, indicating the education level), and a degree certificate. When Chinese students who have studied abroad return to China, they also need to undergo the education level and degree authentication processes.

However, outside China, the terms "education level" and "degree" are often used interchangeably. In Malaysia, for example, graduates typically receive a transcript and a certificate. While this certificate may resemble a "degree certificate," it is equivalent to a "Diploma" and "degree certificate" in China.

When Chinese students studying abroad return to China, they present this certificate and undergo education level and degree authentication processes. However, the specific processes and requirements are determined by the Chinese authorities.

Therefore, does PMBA confer a Master's education level? In the international context, the answer is yes!
